Ultrasonic Sensor – Revolutionize Your Distance Measurements

HC-SR04 (2020 version) is an open ultrasonic ranging module with a size fully compatible with the old version and adding UART and IIC functions. By default, the software and hardware are fully compatible with the old version of HC-SR04; it can be set to UART or IIC mode through a resistor. 2CM blind zone, 4.5M typical longest distance measurement, 2.2mA working current. Using the upgraded demodulation chip RCWL-9206, MCU with UART and IIC functions; make the peripherals more concise, the working voltage is wider (3-5.5V), and the interface functions are more.

How Ultrasonic Sensors Work:

  1. Transmitter: The sensor consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter emits high-frequency sound waves, typically in the ultrasonic range (above 20,000 Hz).
  2. Sound Wave Propagation: These sound waves travel through the air at a constant speed until they encounter an obstacle in their path.
  3. Reflection: When the sound waves hit an object, they bounce back toward the sensor.
  4. Receiver: The sensor’s receiver detects the reflected sound waves.
  5. Time Measurement: By measuring the time it takes for the sound waves to travel to the object and back, the sensor calculates the distance to the object. This calculation is based on the speed of sound in the air, which is approximately 343 meters per second (or 0.0343 cm/µs) at room temperature.
