The MQ-2 is a semiconductor gas sensor designed to detect combustible gases and smoke. It uses a tin dioxide (SnO₂) sensitive layer whose conductivity changes in the presence of target gases, allowing gas concentration to be measured as a change in voltage. The module version includes onboard signal conditioning components for easy interfacing with microcontrollers.
Key Features
- Sensitive to LPG, propane, methane, hydrogen, and smoke.
- Fast response and high sensitivity.
- Adjustable sensitivity via onboard potentiometer.
- Provides both analog and digital output signals
- Long service life and stable performance
- Onboard heater for sensor activation
