GY-169 INA169 Current Sensor Module is a high-side analog current sensor used to measure electrical current in a circuit. It is built around the Texas Instruments INA169 chip and is suitable for both hobbyists and engineers. The module works by measuring the voltage drop across an on-board shunt resistor. This voltage drop is proportional to the current flowing through it. The module then outputs an analog voltage signal, which can be read by a microcontroller’s analog-to-digital converter (ADC).
Description
This module is a high-side current monitor, meaning it is placed on the positive power rail of the circuit you want to measure. This is an advantage over low-side current monitors because it doesn’t interfere with the circuit’s ground reference. The INA169 chip amplifies the small voltage drop across the shunt resistor, and the output is a current that is converted into a voltage by a load resistor on the board. The value of this load resistor can be changed to adjust the sensor’s gain. The module’s simplicity and wide operating voltage range make it versatile for various applications, including battery management systems and power supply monitoring.
Specifications
* Chipset: Texas Instruments INA169
* Measurement Type: High-side, unipolar DC current measurement
* Operating Voltage (VCC): 2.7V to 60V
* Input Voltage (VIN+): Up to +60V
* Maximum Continuous Current: The on-board 0.1 Ω shunt resistor is typically rated for up to 5A continuous measurement, with a power rating of 2W.
* Output: Analog voltage output proportional to the measured current. The default on-board load resistor is 10kΩ, which provides a voltage output of 1V per Ampere.
* Accuracy: The INA169 chip offers good precision with a gain error of 2% and a low quiescent current of 60µA, which minimizes measurement error.
* Operating Temperature Range: -40°C to +85°C.
